Lawrence Weschler: Seeing Is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Sees: A Life of Contemporary Artist Robert Irwin
On the one hand this is a biography of artist Robert Irwin up until its publication in 1982. On the other, this is in essence a lengthy discussion with Irwin about his insights on perception: space, time, sensing, seeing, imagery versus physicality, presence, reality. At one time this was one of those must-read books in art school. Is it still?
